Drain Pressure Switch .40" WC
Rheem Factory Part - RHEEM ELC-IC. Pressure Switch .40" WC with 1/2" NPT.
A pressure switch is a safety device designed to prevent potentially dangerous high-pressure water leaks from pool heaters. These devices usually shut off the electric power supply and operate a pilot light or other warning light, or activate a safety valve when the water reaches a predetermined high pressure. Features: Compatible with RHEEM tankless water heaters, Pressure relief value of .40" WC, Power rating of 30 amp- 115v/ 60 Hz, Iron case
Why is a drain pressure switch needed in my water heater? To maintain optimum water flow from a water heater the pump system must be primed. To prime a pump system, there must always be some back-pressure in the return line to force water through the cold-water line (and sometimes, through the cold-water hand holes). High-water pressure will cause air to be forced back into the hot water line, preventing the pump from pumping. So, drain line pressure needs to be maintained between 30 and 40 PSI to function properly. Rheem drain pressure switches use well proven technology, long service life, solid
