The RT850 Solid State Relay is a non contact solid state relay utilizing TRIAC switches with resistors for simple electronic control of 120 V or 240 V ac heating loads. The device can also be used in solid-state timer applications. The primary application for these parts is mill duty electric-heating applications. The operation of the switch is completely solid state and does not depend upon any moving parts such as mechanical relays or electromechanical switches. A unique feature of this device is the use of zero voltage switching (ZVS). In order to prevent contacts from sparking or arcing, the data sheet recommends that when
The Solid State Relay is used for triac controlled heating, air-conditioning, and humidity control. This solid state device offers many benefits over the electromechanical relay including high switching capacity, no arcing, and noncontacting construction.
The RT850 is a solid state relay which provides a low cost solution for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems. The RT850 utilizes an input transistor to sense the AC line voltage as it passes through a TRIAC power stage inside the solid state relay. When the transistors turns-on, the stored energy in the capacitor is released into the load as a burst of current. This enables the relay to be used as a switch for loads up to 1A at 240V.
The RT850 Solid State Relay lets you switch a load from 120V AC or 220V AC power. Our logic-level input voltage makes it even easier to control: Just connect the RT850 to a Honeywell Zoned Wiring Control system, via a Modbus or DNP3 serial interface. You simply set the desired temperature on your thermostat, and the RT850 uses Modbus/DNP3 to communicate with your zone valves and switches to control the flow of warm water in each heating zone. This feature is not available on the Honeywell ZR906 and ZR904 solid state
