FLAME SENSOR

The FLAME SENSOR measures the temperature of your system to determine if a flame is present within the combustion chamber. If it detects flame, then the control board deactivates power to the heating elements and ignites the pilot light. However, if it does not detect flame, power will be supplied to all heating elements and the gas valve will turn on.

The Flame Sensor is one of the most significant breakthroughs in residential HVAC history. It protects against gas fireplace ignition by sensing the flame's thermal radiation and turning off if the flame is extinguished. The Flame Sensor has a long life, requires no maintenance and ships standard with Lennox TF-Series and TE-Series gas fireplace models.

The Lennox® Flame Sensor MFH56 unit mounts directly to the flue pipe. The flame sensor cable wire leads outside the house and controls a relay in the ventilator assembly. The flame sensor is used on all outdoor ventilators, forced-air furnaces and condensing furnaces. This model flame sensor will fit Lennox® models: 1CAL20N14CA, 3CAL25N14CA, 2CAL35N14CA.

This Flame Sensor kit is intended to be used with your existing heat sensing probe for added security.

The flame sensor turns the heat off automatically when there is a risk of fire. Fitted with flame sensor to shut off pilot light if flue becomes too hot.

The flame sensor is used to replace HM78 when flame is sensed. The Flame Sensor is a magnetic device used to detect the presence of flame on the gas valve during operation. It does not have a thermocouple installed so it will not operate a system.

The flame sensor is a safety device used with gas fired furnaces. It is located in the vent pipe near the furnace. When flame is absent, the gas pressure to furnace may be interrupted, which causes the flame sensor to release pressure in the gas line.
