HOT SURFACE IGNITOR

The 98P78 HOT SURFACE IGNITOR is designed to fit Lennox furnaces. This device creates a spark of electricity to ignite the pilot light in your furnace. Its long-lasting design doesn't burn out like traditional friction ignitors can. The hot surface ignitor is easy to install and replace with a screwdriver, so you can get your furnace up and running again quickly.

The HOT Surface Ignitor ignites gas appliances quickly and easily making it easier to get back to what you enjoy. These ignitors are designed for use with gas appliances including fireplaces, grills, stoves and boilers that are fueled by natural gas only. The HOT Surface Ignitor is designed specifically to work with 24 volt systems. With their sleek white finish and easy-to-program buttons, these surface mount igniters can be installed using a device such as the Lennox Service Tool or a similar device purchased from your HVAC/plumbing contractor.

The 98P78 Hot Surface Ignitor is used on Lennox and American Standard gas furnaces.

This ignitor is a direct replacement for all Lennox 100 Series furnaces equipped with a two-wire R.A.I.D. ignition system and an integral draft inducer blower. All Hot Surface Ignitors that are manufactured today are designed to be compatible with oxygen-depletion systems and CSA-approved carbon monoxide detectors.

The Hot Surface Ignitor is a control module for gas-fired units that uses a resistive heating element to ignite the pilot flame. This low voltage, long life, resistor ignitor comes complete with a flame failure sensor and has a flame sensor option available. The "Hot Surface" design allows replacement without disconnection of gas or power. Unit has protection against arc fault failures in other ignition components with an internal thermal fuse and separate ground. It is designed for use with condensing unit furnaces (98H/98A/98AH) and all 90% AFUE furnaces (96H/96A/96

The 98P78 ignitor is used with many Lennox furnaces. Typically, the hot surface ignitor is mounted on the gas valve. There are two types of hot surface ignitors: The Isolated type and the Grounded type. The isolated type cannot be field adjusted.

Some Lennox. hot surface igniters are made with magnesium oxide sleeves for use with radiant tube heaters. Protects the igniter from corrosion and extends life under these specific application conditions. Offers protection from both air and moisture contaminants as well as plugging particles.
