Pressure control is normally used on steam boilers to control the heat input into the steam drum and, thereby, regulating temperatures within the steam drum. Pressure fluctuations in the steam supply may be caused by wind variations, coal firing rate variations, poor primary or economizer air flow, etc. Pressure control senses changes in pressure and adjusts the power input to the boiler by controlling a valve which either admits high pressure air to the burner or allows air under pressure to be vented from the boiler.
