The Norton York HSI-1 hot surface ignitor is designed to ignite gas or propane gas grills. It fits into the burner head and uses a piezoelectric reaction to generate a spark for ignition of a grill's burners. The ignitor should be replaced if it becomes defective.

This hot surface ignitor is a genuine OEM part. It’s purpose in a gas range is to ignite the burners in order to produce adequate heat in the oven when its time to cook.
