Expansion Valve w/Bleed Port

This is a BRAND NEW gas valve (TXV) manufactured by Rheem with Bleed Port. This is the same type of gas valve that was used in Rheem's first generation of MicroTubes heat pumps.

For use with Rheem / Ruud systems containing the Protech controller. This includes (but is not limited to) the following systems: 3-4 Ton, 3-4 Ton PKG, 5-6 Ton, 4-5 Ton PKG and 2.5 ton sold as Rheem or Ruud only. The expansion valve (TXV) is located in the suction line from the water source to the air handler and regulates the flow of refrigerant into the coils.

The expansion valve has two ports: the outlet and the bleed. The bleed port is at the bottom of the fitting and provides a means for removing air from the system. The expansion valve must be mounted with the bleed port up to allow gas to flow into the system before it can be bled out. Expanding gas pushes against the diaphragm separating the inlet and outlet ports, adjusting for temperature changes.

For proper operation and economical efficiency, this expansion valve is used for water heater applications. It includes a bleed port that is designed to remove excess pressure from the system. This expansion valve meets or exceeds UL 375 standards and is a great replacement for obsolete models.
