Exclusive to Rheem and Protech Brand: The TXV (thermatic expansion valve) replaces the capillary tube-and-cap assembly in standard type gas water heaters. It has thermally activated valving to sense system pressure. This essentially eliminates the traditional pressure relief cycling of standard gas water heater models which is caused by thermal expansion and contraction of the water volume in the tank. In addition, this product has a bleed port for system pressures above design limits, thus eliminating internal high flow requirements of traditional capillary tube type systems.

The 171055/Protech TXV Expansion Valve has a 115-volt coil and is intended for applications up to 65-psig. The expansion valve uses a CGA-540 type gas connection and features a built-in bleed port. For installation, simply replace standard expansion valve with this model.
