Flame Sensor

The Flame Sensor easily installs in fuel gas return lines, and combines with the Remote Pilot Module to automatically shut off the gas supply if a flame is lost.

The Flame Sensor by Rheem replaces the standard flame rod and is flared at the bottom. It should be installed parallel to the burner and about 1/4" above it--in other words, you want the tip of the sensor located directly above the hottest part of the pilot flame (the flare) and about 1/4" away from that area (see image on right).

The Flame Sensor is used to detect the presence of gas in the line or flame to switch gas on or off

The 62-23543-06 Flame Sensor from Rheem, available at SelectSmart.com, prevents accidental gas discharge and aids in keeping your heating system safe. When flame is absent for 30 minutes or longer, the Flame Sensor activates a fault code and shuts the gas off to the furnace. Rest assured that no more pilot lights will burn out accidentally.
