The Flame Sensor allows the Carrier Infinity system to continually monitor and evaluate the fire continuously while the system is on. In addition, it prevents burnback. If a fire persists for more than 2 hours, then the upper thermostat (furnace) and lower thermostat (air conditioner) will shut off, preventing further damage at any point.
